Český Krumlov #
The town’s small family-run pensions inside the medieval old town are the best value and the most atmospheric option; several occupy genuinely historic buildings a short walk from the castle. Staying within the castle complex itself is also possible in a limited number of rooms, extraordinary but priced accordingly. Book at least two months ahead for summer weekends; the town’s accommodation is limited relative to demand.
Kutná Hora #
Smaller and less visited than Český Krumlov, with correspondingly more relaxed booking requirements. Guesthouses in the historic centre near the Cathedral of Saint Barbara put you within easy walking distance of both the cathedral and the Sedlec Ossuary.
Karlovy Vary #
The spa town’s grand 19th-century hotels, Grandhotel Pupp being the most famous, are the specific draw here: genuine Belle Époque architecture with spa and wellness facilities built into the original buildings.
